Insane Visions - News: URGENT: AdaptCMS 1.3 Security Fix Released

For the first time with AdaptCMS, Insane Visions has issued an urgent security fix. This recent security hole was discovered by the group at Milw0rm. Upon hearing about this security hole we immediately fixed the problem in a matter of minutes and are now issuing this fix.

The Security Hole was related to the new "Check User" feature in AdaptCMS Lite 1.3 and AdaptCMS Pro 1.3. When signing up you would enter the username desired, once moving to the password field a box would appear saying whether the username was taken or not. The issue was the PHP that checks to see if the username is taken did not use any safe guards incase of SQL injection. The worst consequence is the stealing of the MD5 hash of a users password but NO passwords themselves were vulnerable to this problem.

This fix is simply one file which goes into the "includes/" folder. We recommend that all AdaptCMS Lite users upload this fixed file immediately. Thank you.

Download AdaptCMS 1.3 Fix

Insane Visions - News: OneCMS a Top 25 CMS

At least according to TECH.BLORGE that is. OneCMS earned position number 21 on a list of the top 40 open source content management systems (CMS).

Just figured I'd post about this, it's always nice to see your own CMS linked somewhere else in a bigger way than just a normal list of CMS's, but what they considering the best ones. Here is the top 5 along with OneCMS:

1. Joomla - a very popular open-source CMS that is found at the heart of many well known websites (the United Nations is just one example)

Insane Visions - Blogs: AdaptCMS 1.4 - September 17th

With the announcement that AdaptCMS 1.4 would be delayed, I did want to get a start on it with the features already thought of and luckily I was able to. Some of the features already done in AdaptCMS 1.4 aren't "huge" but useful.

Pagination - For the front main page and section pages, this has been something important missing so visitors can see all past articles.

Users Online - Pretty small but users and guests online have been adjusted so that the # of users online is more efficient and guests online now includes bots. When listing users online, it does list bots.

Comments Quote - Another small but nifty feature, you simple click on "Quote" by the comment you want to quote and it inserts the comment within quote tags into the text area, just making commenting easier.

Admin Search - Suggested to me not long ago, located above the "Support Search" feature, you can easily search articles, comments, fields, files, galleries, pages, settings, templates and users.

Postpone Article - This is a feature in OneCMS, but much better. You can select a date and time for the article to be published at that time. Before that time it will only be visible in the admin panel, but can be manually published at any time.

It may or may not seem like a lot, it isn't that much though it's some nifty useful stuff so far. This blog today is kind of like a "micro-blog", just briefly describing some of the new features, in this case just what's done so far.

Insane Visions - News: New AdaptBB.com Launched!

I wanted to pop in to announce the launch of the brand new AdaptBB.com! Here's an excerpt of the announcement:

"Welcome to the brand new AdaptBB.com! The new website for the upcoming PHP Forum script AdaptBB, is running off of AdaptCMS and once the script is in Beta form, will be used right here.

AdaptBB is a bulletin board/forum system written in PHP and MySQL powered that is currently in development. Once released, AdaptBB 1.0 will bring a lot to the new table outside from reputable customer service seen already with other Insane Visions scripts."

The new website is online right this moment, there are still some quirks to work out but well worth a peak!

AdaptBB.com

New AdaptBB.com Launched!

Insane Visions - News: AdaptCMS 1.4 Delayed, AdaptBB coming along

It's been a little slow lately the past few weeks here at Insane Visions. Working on a script from the ground up (AdaptBB) is quite a tedious task as well as a fun thing to do. The forum script is shaping up quite nicely so far, but there is still a LOT of work to do on the forums themselves, not even including some of the unique features.

With all that said AdaptCMS 1.4 will be delayed. I know an "official release" is never given, but AdaptCMS 1.0-1.3 were released two months apart. However with work on AdaptBB 1.0 as well as another Insane Visions-related website being worked on and various other things, I don't expect to release 1.4 until sometime in October.

At this point we are still brainstorming and we will begin work on the new version shortly, but we would like your feedback! Check out this topic and leave any suggestions for features or anything else you would like to see in AdaptCMS 1.4. Stay tuned!
