If you want to reward your contributors for all the work they put into your site but don't have the budget to pay them this solution is for you. Essentially what this does is allows your writers to put their own ads in their news posts that will run alongside your own.
- Go to your Admin panel (http://yoursite.com/admin.php)
- Once in the Admin panel click "Custom Fields"
- Click "Add Field"
- Your values should look like this:
- Field Name: Ad Sharing (change it if you like this guide will use the aforementioned name)
- Section: Select which ever ones you want (ex News Reviews Features etc)
- Field Type: Text Area
- Description: Insert your ad code here
- Click "Add Field" when you are ready.
- Try to add some News via the articles section to see if the Ad Sharing box appears insert your ad code for now.
Now that our backend is done we have to make a few changes to your template to have the ads show up on the front end.
- In the Admin panel click "Templates"
- Open the appropriate template (News Games Previews etc)
- Find where you want the ad code to appear enter the following tag: {ad_sharing} (if you changed it enter the appropriate tag)
- Save your template
- See if your ad appears on the front end of your site!
Note: If you have the WYSIWYG editor enabled you will need to insert your ad code via the "HTML" option in the editor.
I recommend using Google Adsense if you are going to use any other advertiser check with them first since some have rules against running ads on the same page rival services run theirs. You should give your writers a disclaimer which they must acknowledge as well basically letting them know by using the service you the site owner can revoke privilege's if necessary. An example where this might be necessary is if an advertiser wants to buy all your site ad space for a week.

Keep in mind this is only a simple mod designed to get you going I might work on a plugin in the near future.
