Following the release of AdaptCMS Lite/Pro v1.1, the same exact steps followed as with v1.1. Release, brainstorming, begin coding.

This started a bit earlier than before, several ideas popped in my head. Besides new features, there are enhancements even with smaller things such as a new folder setup and upgraded wysiwyg editor.

Below I'll talk about a few of the new features for AdaptCMS Pro/Lite v1.2.

Polls

First to talk about is actually not a "new" feature, or rather features. But rather, improvements of both Stats and Polls.

Polls are an important feature of any site. It can easily and quickly get feedback and opinions on your website or just to help get visitors engaged. The feature in AdaptCMS was good, but it was a bit confusing to some people. So in the backend it's made very user friendly and addition, there are several new features.

One is an option for multiple selections. That means a visitor can select more than one option on a poll, to vote for. The other, more unique, addition is a custom option. Say you have a poll asking for suggestions on your site, you have to make up broad question, with the custom option a user can enter in what they want. Of course there are security measures, a limit of one per user (IP matched), a limit on the total amount of custom options per poll and more.

Statistics v1.1

Stats has been one of the extremely few features, or really the only one (I can think of) that has been almost un-touched and brought from OneCMS. v1.0 stats had a stats check done that archived stats weekly and monthly and yearly, in addition it cut down on load times.

However, Stats has needed more improvements and it will begin with Statistics v1.1. With Statistics v1.1 load times have been improved even more and new features. Now when you checkout stats, you will see the traditional "Today, Yesterday, etc.", but now you can correctly see detailed stats for the last 7 days and the top stats.

With the Top Stats you can see the Top Pages, Top Referrers, Top Browsers and Top Operating Systems. Detailed stats had this, but since stats records are deleted, I figured there needed to be a way to see these stats but more than just based on a daily record, but total amounts.

User Subscriptions

Ironically I'll be talking less about this than the other two features, but this is something with no work done on it yet and I can't guarantee will be in v1.2 of AdaptCMS.

Basically, the concept is something like ESPN Insider, Gamestop Complete, IGN Insider, etc. Setup a user subscription, set cost (per month or per year, via paypal). Then when adding an article, you can make it say an "Insider" article. You could restrict even being able to see the article, if they can see it limit the amount of an article a non-subscriber can see and so on.

It would definitely be a unique feature in a CMS and is a good possibility.

Conclusion

I know this was a really long blog, but I wanted to write this a few days ago, didn't get the chance. I think of this as a bigger "new" version than v1.1, like a "mini" big version, if that makes sense.

Testimonials

I use OneCMS as the backend of my site, VisionPS3.com. Why? Because OneCMS is the best content management system that I have ever used, it is also very easy, extremely customizable, and has a very small learning curve. In addition, it comes backed by one of the most knowledgeable programmers that I know, which is Chuck, the creator of OneCMS. He never hesitated to get hands-on with the small amounts of problems I ran into, as he knows the CMS like the back of his hand. A big thanks goes out to the creator of OneCMS for creating, managing, and helping with the greatest CMS on the web!
