Looking for Staff
 |
 @ Jul 06, 08 - 3:17 pm
We've had a lot going on lately here at Insane Visions! AdaptCMS 1.3 is going to be released in the coming few weeks, AdaptBB is back in development, we're working on a few tutorials that will be online soon and OneCMS v2.6 is coming.
That's two active scripts (AdaptCMS, AdaptBB), one semi-active script (OneCMS) and all the while keeping updated on Insane Visions, a lot of work! So we are looking for some help. Here is what we are looking for:
- Programmers: This is the main need. If you are a PHP programmer with at least 1 year of experience, keep reading to see the link to give us a call. We also expect you are proficient in HTML of course as well as basics of MySQL. If you help out with AdaptCMS you do get paid, but don't expect a lot. ($30/copy - 1/3 goes to site, the rest is split between the programmers)
- Freelancer: If you'd like to just help out every so often, read ahead. If you want to write a tutorial every so often or want to keep the IV readers updated on the going-ons of the PHP/Tech world.
- Article Writer: Lastly if you are interested in writing tutorials or news (not related to IV), you may want to become an Article Writer.
How to Apply: If you are interested in any of the above or would like to help out in another way, checkout the following page:
Staff Application
Be sure to fill in your name, email and select the subject "Join the Staff". In the message enter the position your interested in and a bit of background as well as any messenger handlers. Thank you!

 @ Jul 01, 08 - 9:48 pm
First up is last month's poll results:
After installing a CMS, what do you look for? Other 0%
 Easy-to-use admin panel 34.6%
 Cool frontend layout 19.2%
Some help to get started 23.0%
 A thorough Read Me 15.3%
 Votes: 26
Thanks everyone for voting! This months poll is up, asking the question: Which forum software do you use?
With the release of AdaptCMS 1.3 approaching in the next two weeks, we've calmed down a bit before launch, getting work done on other websites.
However all that is left to do is finish the Read Me and release. Expect to see several tutorials up this month (feel free to post suggestions) as well.

AdaptBB 1.0 in Development
 |
 @ Jun 23, 08 - 6:27 pm
After quite a long time thinking about it, I eventually decided to renew adaptbb.com and start the project back up. It was just about two years ago that it was announced and I just felt that I would eventually be doing a forum script and AdaptBB (as well as adaptbb.com) is a good name.
I wish I could say more, but all else I can say is that the script will be practically re-written, possibly with some OOP. It will be a lightweight forum system that will come built to be integrated into other CMS systems or standalone. In all likelyhood it will be released under GNU GPL as an Open Source script.
That's about it. Be sure to keep an eye out for it, I will be posting blogs about it here. Also checkout AdaptBB.com, it will be updated shortly with this info and more.

New Beta Sign-up
 | |
@ Jun 17, 08 - 12:58 pm
The beta system seems to be re-done every so often, but hopefully this one stays as-is! Although signing up for individual Beta's worked alright, participation was somewhat low so the beta signup is now consists of signing up just once!
This means after you sign up to become a beta tester, any past and future Beta's will be available for you to participate in right away. All you have to do is go to the beta area - Beta Signup. Once signed up, you can visit the same page to download Beta's. You will also see a link to the Beta Area on the top right, the control panel.
The only requirement we ask to become a beta tester is that you are a member. If you're not, be sure to register or login and head onto the Beta Signup!

AdaptCMS 1.3 - June 13th
 |
 @ Jun 13, 08 - 1:12 pm
Editors Note: With our new blog here at AdaptCMS.com,
we'll be doing some mini-blogs about new features upcoming and recently
finished, ideas and such. Expect to see them a few times a month!
It's been now a little over a month since the release of AdaptCMS
1.2 and a few weeks since the last blog and it seems like release is so
far away. When working on v1.2 it seemed like it was going to be the
only major version (other than 1.0) until 1.5, now it seems that I was
wrong.
Whether or not 1.3 is a Major version really depends on
whether User Subscriptions make it in or not. I really would like to
try to get it in, it would delay release, but at the same time the Read
Me isn't exactly close to being finished at this point and the extra
time would be useful.
Although I don't know when 1.3 will be out, I can say it won't be
for a little while (a Beta will probably be out in late June or
early-mid July) and that there are still quite a bit left to do, but it
already feels like a major version!

Bot Detection with PHP
 |
 @ Jun 07, 08 - 7:46 pm
After a long hiatus, we have a new tutorial online that shows how to detect bots with PHP. Check it out:
"In the ongoing work of my PHP CMS, AdaptCMS, one thing I have
basically worked on every version is stats. Every time someone loads a
page, info is stored (date, ip, browser, os, username, referral, etc.).
I either find a new way to make the stats more accessible or a new bit
of important info. Recently I noticed some websites I was visiting were
displaying bots currently at the site ("Googlebot", "MSN Bot", etc.)
and found out something new and important to keep track of."

Testimonials
I have dealt with many CMSes before. I have had my fair share of disappointments. At first, I had a rough time with OneCMS. Thanks to the awesome support with OneCMS, I am now gliding along easily. Even making modifications! I have never dealt with this level of support, especially on a free program, before. I think that Chuck shows great devotion, and props on the CMS. |||||4 - Scott Berlin, Founder/Webmaster, Wired-Gamers.com |
