AdaptCMS 2.0 - Alpha to Beta
@ Mar 17, 10 - 12:18 am

Still with a long ways to go, nonetheless, AdaptCMS 2.0 has gone from Alpha to the start of Beta stage. This means the script is somewhat stable - although serious testing is still a bit off.

There is still a lot of work left before a Beta is released but one of the important steps - a design - is in progress with the default frontend layout already done! Talking about progress, there has been a lot lately after a break - much work on the social and share features especially.

But I'll talk about that stuff in the upcoming blog. Stay tuned.

Looking for Staff
@ Mar 02, 10 - 9:17 pm

With the upcoming beta release of AdaptCMS and upcoming work on AdaptBB 1.1, it seems time that Insane Visions gets a staff. For those that don't know, for a little while now, it's been run solo. It's worked okay lately but with the work starting on a second script and the lack of updates on this site - it definitely needs more activity and more help.

Also with a planned brand new version of Insane Visions, we will definitely need the help. Let me just start out with the bad news - these positions are not paid. I would love to do it but I make very little ad money as it is and not even close to enough to pay for staff, it supports hosting and domain costs. (and even then, hardly) Down the road where I do envision this as a company or when the site becomes profitable, then it'd happen - but not right now.

If you are still interested here is what I'm looking for:

  • Programmers: This is of course needed the most. Right now I'm looking for any amount I can get, but preferably 2 to help share the load. I do program in the old style PHP (not OOP), so that is a necessity. I would expect at least 6 months, preferably 1 year experience and a given that you know HTML/CSS/etc.
  • Freelancer: If you just want to contribute every once in a while, a tutorial, news about the PHP/tech world or that - look at the link below.
  • Article Writer: Basically a freelancer except you are a regular contributor.
  • Promoter/Misc: One thing we need is to get the word out. I'll do what I can, but we need someone that is better at it then I am. ;)

How to Apply: If you are interested in any of the above or would like to help out in another way, fill out the below form:

Staff Application

Thank you.

AdaptBB 1.1 - Work starting soon
@ Feb 20, 10 - 12:32 am

I realized with all this AdaptCMS 2.0 talk for some time now I should update with AdaptBB as well. Part of the reason besides the fact that 100% of my effort is going into AdaptCMS right now, there are some upcoming insanevisions.com features I may put into the next version of AdaptBB - AdaptBB 1.1.

Brainstorming (the first process) will finally begin soon and a blog should be up by the end of the month updating on the progress. Just a small heads up that AdaptBB is not dead and infact has quite a future!

AdaptCMS 2.0 - January 31st
@ Jan 31, 10 - 8:56 pm

With the recent significant work done on the Alpha build of AdaptCMS 2.0, I figured it was time for a blog on the progress.

Overall the status of the script is good, but an actual release - let alone beta release is still a ways off. The ACP and basic frontend features are nearing completion - but new features, refinement, new design and then the new adaptcms.com/insanevisions.com websites.

But in the near term the basics of most of the features should be wrapped up soon - next will be new features as well as starting on some of the insanevisions/adaptcms new websites. I'll be getting designs pretty soon.

Anyways, onto the blog.

AdaptCMS 2.0 Mini-Update #2
@ Jan 02, 10 - 7:08 pm

Since the last update more of the background stuff has been done, but that'll change with the upcoming work. Work will begin on the frontend with some of the basics being done and frontend features implemented and then it'll go back to the ACP with work on the "Share" features and some more advanced features, along with the skinning of the ACP into templates.

Thus far a lot of the work has been of the basic modules and not the new features which will change with the basics of the frontend done. As well, the idea of "re-doing" adaptCMS hasn't been a focus yet as a lot of the code is good - but 2.0 will have a lot of significant differences from 1.0, that's for sure.

Stay tuned for more frequent updates.

AdaptCMS 2.0 Mini-Update #1
@ Dec 06, 09 - 9:45 pm

Just a brief update on the progress of AdaptCMS 2.0, a new blog with more features discussed will go up this week. Onto the update:

"Since the last update there's been a good amount of progress - some basic modules are done such as - Users, Groups, Levels, Content, Sections, Fields. Now it may sound like the script is getting close to completion but it isn't. Just those modules are only partially done - basically functioning and with the new SQL structure but new features aren't implemented yet, I want to get the whole basic cp done and then go from there.

I'm hoping to soon have the basic admin modules done - Comments, Files/Media, Pages, Polls, Settings, Skins. That doesn't include things like the support area which will be worked on in conjunction with improving the AdaptCMS v1 code and implementing new features. The frontend itself won't even be started for a little while.

Anyway that about wraps it up. I will have a demo of 2.0 up sometime this week."

AdaptCMS 2.0 - November 20th
@ Nov 20, 09 - 10:19 pm

The second blog of AdaptCMS 2.0 and just 4 months after the first one! Progress was zero for several months and just in the past month has some work been done.

2.0 still has a long ways to go, but some resemblance of an admin panel should be somewhat finished by the end of the month. A skin for the front and backend will be purchased soon afterwards and from there the rest of the admin panel, frontend, more advanced features and the new IV/AdaptCMS.com!

With that said there are more features I want to talk about since last time. Onto the blog!

OneCMS 2.6 work underway
@ Oct 16, 09 - 12:56 am

Over 1 1/2 years after the release of OneCMS, work on OneCMS 2.6 has begun and has been underway for some time now. There will be an upcoming announcement pertaining to script ownership, but work has begun by myself and another party already making significant process.

Along with many bug fixes already, the admin file being split up and new features are already being thought of - a few in the process of being worked on right now.

At the same time work has finally begun on AdaptCMS 2.0 after some delays. Stay tuned for updates soon and an upcoming announcement pertaining to OneCMS.

Insane Visions update
@ Sep 01, 09 - 4:02 pm

It's been over a month since the last posting and I just wanted to say that we are still here! We are slowly working on AdaptCMS 2.0 and about to begin work on AdaptBB 1.1. There isn't really anything to post when no working build of the new adaptcms or new adaptbb is done - but we'll be posting more with work on AdaptBB beginning again.

Because of the slowness of work on AdaptCMS 2.0, that script won't be released quite at the time we hoped for. I was hoping to get a new design for it and go from there, but likely some decent amount of work will be done before a design is made.

I'm hoping that sometime in the next week or two some early work can be done, hopefully the SQL structure by the end of this week and a decent start on the admin cp two weeks from now. Stay tuned.

AdaptCMS 2.0 - July 27th
@ Jul 28, 09 - 12:54 am

The very first blog of AdaptCMS 2.0! At this point no coding or design work has been done yet, some very early testing and a lot of brainstorming. Because of that, this blog will esentially be just covering some of the bigger ideas we have in mind for 2.0, somewhat fleshed out.

Most of the features mentioned in this blog are part of this new "IV Connect/IV Share/Insert name here" idea, that connects not only the AdaptCMS website and Insane Visions, but all AdaptCMS powered websites with each other in various ways.

Anyways, onto the blog!

AdaptCMS 1.5 Release - Afterthoughts
@ Jul 17, 09 - 1:10 am

With the release of AdaptCMS 1.5 (linky), attention now goes to a future 2.0 version of the CMS. That version will not be out for quite some times, numerous months. The reason being that the script will be completely revamped and in some areas - re-written. As well it will be sporting a completely new look.

As with all versions, the brainstorming is beginning already - although it will be much longer than normal. Once some ideas on what the admin area and frontend will look like are done - the design work can be started up in the meantime of even more brainstorming and planning.

AdaptCMS 1.5 Released
@ Jul 05, 09 - 3:48 pm

Insane Visions has announced the release of AdaptCMS Lite 1.5 and AdaptCMS Pro 1.5, both available to download/purchase!

AdaptCMS 1.5 is largely a minor version, as it comes inbetween 1.4 and the major version, AdaptCMS 2.0. Although minor, this version is more than a few bug fixes - there are numerous new features. The biggest new feature is tagging and "Quick Edit". With tagging you can take advantage of such Web 2.0 features as a "Tag Cloud" and also help visitors search easier. A very useful "Quick Edit" feature has also been added, letting staff/admins quickly edit articles from the frontend of the site.

AdaptCMS 1.5 Releasing shortly, 2.0 work begins
@ Jul 01, 09 - 10:41 pm

Updates haven't been occuring for a while, but the good news is that AdaptCMS 1.5 will be releasing soon. Despite what I expected, the beta and final version will be very similar. This will mean several features won't appear until 2.0 (unless they're cut), the good news being a final version of the script will be out shortly. Since I'll be on "kind of" a vacation next friday/saturday, I'm shooting for a release between this Friday-Sunday.

In another news, but still AdaptCMS related, work has VERY slowly started on the big 2.0 version. By work I mean brainstorming and it will continue to be brainstorming for a little while, actual work may not even begin until later July. Part of the reason is I'll be spending a good amount of money on a re-design of AdaptCMS. This includes a new admin skin, frontend skin and new AdaptCMS.com.

Before the release of 2.0 (a ways to go) a new version and look of this site will go up too, but as said, that's a ways to go. Once 1.5 is released a lot of brainstorming will be done on 2.0, as it will be the biggest release since the first version.

Stay tuned this weekend for the very likely release of AdaptCMS 1.5.

AdaptBB 1.0 Released
@ May 31, 09 - 6:13 pm

Insane Visions is very happy to announce the release and immediate availability of AdaptBB 1.0! After a long wait the first official release of the script is finally available below:

Insane Visions - Download

SourceForge - Download

With a lengthy and successful beta that fleshed out many bugs and a few security problems, AdaptBB still has a long ways to go but is a stable polished script that we felt was time to be released.

Among the many great features that AdaptBB, the top ones are a great support system, easy-to-use interface (2-step installation!) and a stable script. Despite being the first official release, AdaptBB has the advantage of AdaptCMS - you will see some features from the CMS in AdaptBB such as the nifty File Release System.

This feature essentially lets you update your AdaptBB files from the development website within the script, anytime. This can range from a simple fix to updating a serious bug without leaving your website. As well AdaptBB features a quick edit feature to quickly edit those pesky little mistakes quickly, powerful search, rss, mod_rewrite and so much more!

Be sure to give AdaptBB a try and let us know what you think at the Insane Visions Forums. Thank you.

AdaptBB 1.0 releasing soon, AdaptCMS 1.5 work begins
@ Mar 05, 09 - 3:34 pm

We haven't had updates here for a few weeks, partially because of internet problems on my part and the fact that hasn't been any news to report. However in this gap of time significant work has been done on both AdaptBB 1.0 as well as work has began on AdaptCMS 1.5.

For AdaptCMS 1.5 a few of the features such as some bug fixes, password strength indicator, Tag Cloud/Tagging and an AdaptBB feature - Quick Edit. The release is still a little ways off, but definitely a good start.

As for AdaptBB 1.0, there has been many bug fixes as well as a few features done. (select skin in profile page, code to display latest posts outside AdaptBB, password strength) There is still more beta testing to be done and the smiley manager hasn't been done yet, but overall 1.0 is nearing release.

Stay tuned!

@ Feb 15, 09 - 9:12 pm

This beta is the very first public release of any version of AdaptBB and the first fully public release of a Beta of any script, from Insane Visions. While this build of AdaptBB has received some minor bug testing, being the very first version, there will be several weeks at least of testing to flush out bugs and anything critical.

While the Beta goes on testers will be able to submit any problems/questions/feedback with a built-in support ticket system and will be able to get the very latest files right from within the AdaptBB ACP with a nifty "File Release System".

We hope to release AdaptBB 1.0 in the next 2-4 weeks. Stay tuned to adaptbb.com for updates.

New Host
@ Jan 30, 09 - 4:53 pm

Just a heads up that we have moved hosts. The transition appears to have gone smoothly and without many hitches. However we are still looking for any bugs or errors, so if you see any we'd appreciate it if you let us know.

Being on the new host gives us a few advantages over the old one - more spaces and best of all - faster loading. Loading by no means was slow, but you should already see a significant speed increase.

In other news we've made a lot of progress on AdaptBB. While there are still key features left to do, we have just today finished the AdaptCMS integration and you could see an early beta version running over at the IV Forums by next week. Stay tuned!

AdaptCMS 1.4 - New Details
@ Jan 01, 09 - 11:38 pm

Although the hopeful beta release of AdaptCMS 1.4 has been passed, the good news is that it will be out this weekend. Among the changes mentioned previously, two of the biggest additions help make AdaptCMS more adaptable then ever before.

One aspect that I've wanted in for quite a while, global custom fields, finally are now a reality. On the frontpage template (homepage_content), say you want to show an icon as you have a field added for it - no problem. But even more useful, say you have a gaming website and on the review list you want to edit the template (content_list) to show the system the review is for or even the score - no problem.

The usefulness of global custom fields helps make AdaptCMS adaptable to more and more websites as well as making it less and less needed to do custom coding in order to get something to work. You can even use related fields! (for example, a game related to a review...you could display the game summary with a review related to it - continue for the 2nd addition)

AdaptCMS 1.4 Beta releasing soon
@ Dec 21, 08 - 1:00 am

It's been a long two months and with recent developments I can finally post some good news - the AdaptCMS 1.4 Beta will be releasing soon. There are still a few features left to do, but the beta releasing before the end of the year is a decent chance.

For those that have been following the development of AdaptCMS and/or AdaptBB, I am sorry for the severe lack of updates the past two months and that will be changing. As with 1.3, the beta for AdaptCMS 1.4 will be a mostly public beta - you can get it as long as you are a registered member here and fill in a few fields to become a beta tester.

Already in the new version of AdaptCMS is an admin search feature, refined users/guests online function, pagination for various areas of the frontend, a cool new postpone feature for articles and more. In the meantime of now and beta release will be work on a resize feature for uploading images, article quick edit and a good possibility of for example a game site - linking to a page based on field data. (ex. website.com/area/system-ps3)

Stay tuned for the release of the Beta as well as an update on AdaptBB 1.0.

AdaptBB 1.0 - Frontend Revealed
@ Oct 20, 08 - 6:26 pm

The updates haven't been coming too often partially because I wanted to wait to have kind of a "big reveal", info AND screen shots. Luckily this is that day!

A demo is still a little ways off, but I can see it happening in a week or at most, two. The possibility of a beta in that time frame is now also a fairly good possibility. That said in this Blog I'll talk about a few of the unique features and usability of AdaptBB. As well, check out the bottom of the article for the brand new frontend screen shots!

URGENT: AdaptCMS 1.3 Security Fix Released
@ Oct 03, 08 - 8:16 pm

For the first time with AdaptCMS, Insane Visions has issued an urgent security fix. This recent security hole was discovered by the group at Milw0rm. Upon hearing about this security hole we immediately fixed the problem in a matter of minutes and are now issuing this fix.

The Security Hole was related to the new "Check User" feature in AdaptCMS Lite 1.3 and AdaptCMS Pro 1.3. When signing up you would enter the username desired, once moving to the password field a box would appear saying whether the username was taken or not. The issue was the PHP that checks to see if the username is taken did not use any safe guards incase of SQL injection. The worst consequence is the stealing of the MD5 hash of a users password but NO passwords themselves were vulnerable to this problem.

This fix is simply one file which goes into the "includes/" folder. We recommend that all AdaptCMS Lite users upload this fixed file immediately. Thank you.

At least according to TECH.BLORGE that is. OneCMS earned position number 21 on a list of the top 40 open source content management systems (CMS).

Just figured I'd post about this, it's always nice to see your own CMS linked somewhere else in a bigger way than just a normal list of CMS's, but what they considering the best ones. Here is the top 5 along with OneCMS:

AdaptCMS 1.4 - September 17th
@ Sep 17, 08 - 3:56 pm

With the announcement that AdaptCMS 1.4 would be delayed, I did want to get a start on it with the features already thought of and luckily I was able to. Some of the features already done in AdaptCMS 1.4 aren't "huge" but useful.

  • Pagination - For the front main page and section pages, this has been something important missing so visitors can see all past articles.
  • Users Online - Pretty small but users and guests online have been adjusted so that the # of users online is more efficient and guests online now includes bots. When listing users online, it does list bots.
  • Comments Quote - Another small but nifty feature, you simple click on "Quote" by the comment you want to quote and it inserts the comment within quote tags into the text area, just making commenting easier.
  • Admin Search - Suggested to me not long ago, located above the "Support Search" feature, you can easily search articles, comments, fields, files, galleries, pages, settings, templates and users.
  • Postpone Article - This is a feature in OneCMS, but much better. You can select a date and time for the article to be published at that time. Before that time it will only be visible in the admin panel, but can be manually published at any time.

It may or may not seem like a lot, it isn't that much though it's some nifty useful stuff so far. This blog today is kind of like a "micro-blog", just briefly describing some of the new features, in this case just what's done so far.

New AdaptBB.com Launched!
@ Sep 11, 08 - 2:00 pm

I wanted to pop in to announce the launch of the brand new AdaptBB.com! Here's an excerpt of the announcement:

"Welcome to the brand new AdaptBB.com! The new website for the upcoming PHP Forum script AdaptBB, is running off of AdaptCMS and once the script is in Beta form, will be used right here.

AdaptBB is a bulletin board/forum system written in PHP and MySQL powered that is currently in development. Once released, AdaptBB 1.0 will bring a lot to the new table outside from reputable customer service seen already with other Insane Visions scripts."

The new website is online right this moment, there are still some quirks to work out but well worth a peak!

AdaptCMS 1.4 Delayed, AdaptBB coming along

It's been a little slow lately the past few weeks here at Insane Visions. Working on a script from the ground up (AdaptBB) is quite a tedious task as well as a fun thing to do. The forum script is shaping up quite nicely so far, but there is still a LOT of work to do on the forums themselves, not even including some of the unique features.

With all that said AdaptCMS 1.4 will be delayed. I know an "official release" is never given, but AdaptCMS 1.0-1.3 were released two months apart. However with work on AdaptBB 1.0 as well as another Insane Visions-related website being worked on and various other things, I don't expect to release 1.4 until sometime in October.

At this point we are still brainstorming and we will begin work on the new version shortly, but we would like your feedback! Check out this topic and leave any suggestions for features or anything else you would like to see in AdaptCMS 1.4. Stay tuned!

AdaptBB - 1.0 Features
@ Aug 15, 08 - 12:24 pm

Today we have here for you a new blog on a few of the biggest features that you will be seeing in AdaptBB 1.0. Here you go:

"With the announcement of AdaptBB finally going under serious development for the first time in over 2 years, the release of AdaptBB 1.0 is finally going to happen and the work continues.

When it was decided that AdaptBB would be happening, it was then of course time to start the brainstorming. Whereas the CMS market is competitive, but has some holes and much to expand on, the forum market is practically locked up tightly but the two most popular - phpBB (open source) and vBulletin (paid)."

Starting on AdaptBB
@ Jul 24, 08 - 3:33 pm

A brand new blog has been posted talking about some of the planning and some of the features of AdaptBB. Here's a snippet:

"AdaptBB was announced, amazingly, over 2 years ago and v1.0 was never released. But 2 years and a few weeks after the website was first registered, AdaptBB was announced to be back in development. Soon after it was decided that rather than finishing the script, AdaptBB would just be re-done. Now over a month later the work on AdaptBB is still starting, but it's getting there. In this Blog I'll be giving an inside look at the going-ons of planning for a new script and some of the planned features."

Testimonials

I tried various other Content Management Systems before settling on OneCMS. None came close to the ease of use and the amazing customer service! This was my first time dealing with a CMS so naturally I had many, many questions. Amazingly they were all answered the same day, most of the time my problems were fixed in minutes! OneCMS has many great features and many more planned for future releases and I personally can't wait! I'm glad I went with OneCMS for my site VideoGamesHardcore.com!
